A lady in western Norway went into the kichen, turned on the tap to wash some utensils, and beer came out. It seems the pub, two floors down had some plumbing work done, and the plumber made a wrong connection. Whoops. She could have kept her mouth shut except that the patrons to the bar didn't like the water on tap, inside the pub. Now thats a plumber.
David Emerson. Well as promised what is the story with Canada's ethics commish and the Prime Minister? It seems that Prime Minister Harper may dismiss the commissioner and hire someone like Ed Broadbent. I highly doubt that will happen now. Interesting choice though. Could the Tories and the NDP be in bed together?
now for the biggie,
ID Cards.

President Bush, allegedly, is in talks with PM Harper, for Canadians to adopt the same standards, as the United States. This bold move would see Homeland Security oversee all immigration and customs matters within Canada, but have an appointed member to be a watchdog on behalf of Canadian interests. There are some plus points noted. As non currency tranfers ( including interac and credit cards ) have for the first time outpaced a cash or cheque sale at retail shoppes across North America your Drivers Licence will be used as your cash transfer card, and passport. (also headed by homeland security) This will enable easier verification against fraud and identity theft. One other move, which I am a bit uneasy about, is mandatory DNA samples to be done at birth for all people. I don't know if that would include those already born. Invasive. Perhaps.
"There is a Canadian culture that is in some ways unique to Canada, but I don't think Canadian culture coincides neatly with borders." Stephen Harper

Its certainly something to think about.
What do you think?

Hmmmm...
Since the election we now have the USA Homeland Security wanting to give us ID cards? What happened to the fence they were going to build along the border that they insisted that Canada build to keep us out. Now they LIKE us?
Ya, right.
Ethics in Politics? It Ain't going to happen. Not in our lifetime.
Slimebuckets.
Maybe everyone should have a chip implanted into our brain and when we want to prove identity or proof of funds, they can just scan us. Each of us will be in a specific category. We will all have our mark!!
AV.
Big brother is watching you! Well Visa has been tracking everything I do for years. If I make a purchase or 2 that don't fit the pattern I get a phone call. I don't have anything to hide so if this is going to help with identity theft i'm all for it. Canadians take for granted the value of their identity. We put alarms in our houses and vehicles but we fail to protect our identities. When you realize that there are 2 or 3 of you running around the world breaking the laws of other countries it makes it very difficult for you to travel.

There will be more people oppressed and destroyed by this centralized id process that the American government is planning than there will be helped.
If you believe it will help you, then I am happy for your benefit. I just do not wish it on those who it will hurt. And I also think your conscience may lead you not to support it if you think about how it may end up harming some others, even if you think you may personally benefit from it.
Every person in the world is capable of exercising enough control and attention in their own lives to be a positive force in the world, for themselves and others. As the world works towards a peaceful coexistence, the need for government will wane and will be replaced by individual contribution of people who care as its main way of keeping civilization intact.
