...and Hannah Jayne came singing along...singin'

I know two terrible children who spread soot from the fireplace all over the room. I would reckon this painting one would have to take the cake though. One of those 2 brats, who spread the soot is now the proud owner, of his own addition. Congrats.

I have invited dadost and siesiers to write for this prestigious BS. (BlogSpot) I hope they will work up enough courage.

Our own Psam is playing at the Calgary Stampede this year. He is staying in Shania Twain's old bus and is having a blast. Check em out. He has asked to put our horse race on hold for a couple of days... let us give him a chance.

I would like to have a vote from all of you, yes even tuffy. What is the best comment we have had so far, from you wonderful and enjoyable peoples. Nominations please. I will compare them with my list and we can have a world cup. I would like to know which is the best picture and the worst and which BS has given you the most.

I am feeling a bit mind burnt tonite, and lately for that matter. I will leave you with these 2 little tidbits. The first link I really quite liked. I am sure you have heard of those African scams where they try to get you to send them some money so they can move their millions out of their war torn country and then they will share with you..... errr scam. Well people have been falling for it. This guy fought back. He conned the con. I found it hilarious. Hope you do too. http://www.419eater.com/html/john_boko.htm a bit of reading....

And for the scholars in the group... a riddle.

"ants aardvarks humans chase eat run fast" Can you interpret this for meee? Is the "r" silent in interpret?

Finally and furthermore, and in summary, lastly, my last post in which I looked steadily into the steely, killers eyes was a partial fabrication. I was trying to goad you into a comment. No I never saw the killer, but the rest did happen. I was attending a match of the best sport to ever be played while the killing took place.... far far away from meeee.

I'm not sure if we are on hold with the race till Psam gets back,, or if we have trivia to still answer or if I am just completely lost?

You reminded me of 2 children who decided to paint the walls in a kitchen with 1Kg of Peanut Butter,, this happened as mommy sat no more than 20 feet away, totally oblivious to it all,,, while she tried to get the baby to sleep.

Peanut butter doesn't clean off walls very well........

aardvarks chase ants, but humans eat fast food on the run.

...another riddle:
ahhh,,, is Psam "Working" or "Having fun", or is he "having fun working"

IN MY DAY.......

It was forbidden to have fun while working.

This was cause for DISIPLINARY ACTION

Otherwise known as "a day in the park"

without pay of course..

Thank you for mentioning me Chanks while I had no internet access and was missing my chance to listen to and speak to all of the friends that share this blog. I have missed you all.
I'm still in Calgary but we've finished at Stampede and now we're playing three nights at a casino. I want to give you a bit of a perspective on the work we've been doing.
Work = doing things that will productively provide things for people that they need or want
That does not mean you can't enjoy it.
There are many ways you can enjoy the work you do. You can feel good about the appreciation people show you for what you've done for them. You can enjoy the rewards of having something really nice that you bought for yourself with the money you received for the work you did. You can feel the sweat coming out of your pores and revel in the good you're doing for your body, which I've never enjoyed more than when I was packing bales of hay out in the country, tough work but satisfying. You can test video games for software developers who do not want to release a product that is going to cost them millions of dollars in rebate money to their customers, which I will add can sometimes be extremely tedious and can get you up some mornings when you're tired and in a horrendous mood. You can sit under a car and get your hands greasy on a vehicle that you love, and then see how happy someone is to have one of the most important tools they have working again.
Here's what you can do if you're a musician playing at an event like the Calgary Stampede:
You can stand in front of several thousand people and sing a song you've spent hours rehearsing and working on. You can watch their hands go flying in the air when you start singing the song. You can listen to the roar of the crowd as they show how much they appreciate the show you're putting on for them. You can hear the instrument you play (at the same time as you're singing I will add, a difficult task which takes much focus and concentration and experience to master), and listen to how beautiful it sounds. You can look at people smiling right at your face from up close in the crowd as they're feeling lucky for their place right close to the entertainers they love. You can talk to the people who worked countless hours to put the event on and are extremely satisfied with how happy they have made all the people that came to it and also with the money the event has brought in to their organization, as well as the people they have managed to give paycheques to for the work they've done. You can hear yourself singing a song that you used to scoff at because you thought it was uncool, but then realize that you gave it a chance because you knew there were a lot of people that liked it, and then feel the pride of knowing you're making a lot of people have a wonderful night hearing a song they love, and through their enjoyment, learn to appreciate it yourself and be proud of your open mind. You can feel the strength in your gut while you're pushing to hit the notes you're singing and it takes so much work that you feel like you've done a hundred pushups and your stomach hurts. You can feel the friendship coming from the guys you've been sweating it out on stage for two hours with as they hug you after the performance and tell you you did a great job and they love working with you.
That's what I've been doing the last three days. Sometimes I love my work, and sometimes it is really tough to get through. When I don't want to show up when we're booked to get onstage at a certain time, I can get fired if the club owner thinks I'm not entertaining the crowds and giving them something to listen to that will keep them there. But still I know that I'm lucky enough to have found myself work to do that gives me incredible joy at times. I love watching people dance and smile.
If a person is doing work that they constantly hate, then there is something wrong with the way the world is providing for that person. Nobody should be satisfied with that. They should try to find a way to treat themselves better. And nobody does anything more important for the world than those that take care of children. Many of them enjoy themselves much of the time, but they should be given appreciation. As time passes in my life and I hopefully become wiser, I believe more and more strongly that I'm never doing anything better for the world at large than when I'm listening to people talk about children they take care of and show them how much I admire them. It doesn't matter whether the children are their daughters or sons, their grandchildren, their friends' children, or a child that walked up to them on the street and said he or she is lost. You never let children grow more than when you let them realize they have something to teach YOU. That gives them reason to feel proud of themselves and to keep trying to learn more in life.
I am grateful for these last few days. It's been an incredibly happy experience, and I held up under the pressure and scrutiny of thousands of people. I am proud of that. In fact, many approached me and told me they loved watching me and thanked me for making their night a good one. When I raised my hands in the air as I was singing, I could see people who were so far away from me I couldn't see their faces, and they were putting their hands up in the air with me. I love those people.
I hope I can learn to listen when people tell me about the work they do, and empathize with them for the moments they enjoy and sympathize for the moments they detest. And I hope that describing mine can give you some moments of visualizing yourself in that position and actually feeling a bit of the thrill that comes with it.

So I am guessing then that no one like the comment about being able to pick your childrens noses?

I know that made some laugh for days.... yes Psam I am thinking of you ;)

Happy to hear that work is enjoyable on so many different levels

WOW Psam

AWESOME description of what you do not only for yourself but for other people.

I am proud to know and love someone like yourself that has TALENT.

IN MY DAY ......

I couldn't make a living with talent, and I didn't have any talent to do anything with.

I envy you. I even took piano lessons, but never had what you have. I am sure that it didn't come too easy, but you WORKED at it, and had a love for it.

picking your kids nose was a classic... i liked the cottage cheese...hoof hearted was legendary...i love the BS comment...as far as pictures go the one sticking out in my mind for the best is the one of the youth throwing the rock during the french riots...the worst was britney on all fours... picture that was just plain wrong, revolting, disgusting, like watching a train crash was the naked man. I nominate psam's last masterpiece as the best comment entry.. possibly. BEST WRITTEN BLOG.... i am gonna have to ponder that for a sec....

Amen, Tara.

Well there you have it. Thanks for the guide lines Dadost.

Psam, someone told me you were playing in Merritt, not Calgary. Either way,......How would it be to have..."A day in the life of Psam" I've never been to the stampede. Been to Merritt to see Dwight Yokum and such, what a blast. Found something better on that weekend now. Oh well.

such a positive response from those of us who love to check this B.S daily ;)

What I absolutely love about it, is that it has brought us all together whether we are separated by a few miles or by thousands of miles we have a commonality. Something that we share and take part in.... new memories and old are shared here. Along with current events and past events. We share ideas and opinions and strengthen our bonds with each other.

Thanks for uniting us across the miles Chanks
