Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhh!
What a break.
First of all, thank you for the requests to continue on with the story. I hope your 2007 has been a great one so far.
So where are we going to go? The APEC conference here, in Canberra should prove to be interesting. Hopefully I can get into the thick of it and chek er out, camera in tow.
I have followed with interest a handful of stories about blogging. Some it would seem will go out of their way to publish thoughts against their place of work. In many cases these people have lost their jobs. I have also heard of people who comment on a blogspot who have been terminated or have cause others to be terminated from their positions because of their thoughts. Hopefully we can be careful in this regard so anyone who shares their view can feel as though they are getting their thoughts out of their minds, and onto "paper" and are in a safe environment where discussion is a tonic, and comments are constructive. Except for the odd angry comment, I thank you for your generosity and your wisdom here. I hope we all can help each other to be as anonymous or as Paris Hiltonized as each of us individually want to be. Now before I sound too much like Psam....
This week in the Canberra times was the threat of an attack at Sydney's nuclear plant and at the Parliament House. I have always thought that there is little threat of an attack in Australia because on the world stage we are but an insignificant speck. That of course was my gut feeling. My case in point is of course the reaction to the Bali bombing worldwide. The event was carried on many of the front pages, across our globe but quickly faded from view within a short time. It was, per capita much more of a toll upon Australia than Sept 11 was to the Americans. The terrorist organization likes to have headlines and Australia is but nothing. Or so I thought. Last year, there was an arrest of suspected terrorist militants. These citizens were suspected of attempting a major terrorist attack in Australia. I was cynical because the announcement became political and our honourable leaders were quick to swoop in and scavenge for cheap attention. Again, I was wrong. It seems that there was a plot to attack our "house" with rocket launchers. Six launchers were purchased for $85000 over a period and we can only guess what the plans were. One can only hope that justice will prevail against those who seek to kill mothers, fathers, and children. Is your heart, your love for this great country, and your sense of what is right and wrong worth a paltry eighty five grand?

Welcome back Chanks!
Haven't put much thought into your question and will admit I don't think enough about Austrailia to say I have a love for it. Now nephews and nieces....yah.
Also, how can you put a price on love? $85,000 x 6 = $510,000.00 hhhhhmmmmm, I would say, "is half a million enough for you to 'live' right from wrong?"
WTH.....where is everyone???
AV
Where have you been Chanks?
Glad to have you back.
Hey, cheer up. When the rest of the world has killed everyone off by hitting each other with nuclear bombs, Australia will still be there.
I am really really in need of a Psam rant fix.
dost
Well it's sure nice to see this place buzzing again. Hello everybody.
The only comment I have to make about this problem with terrorism in Australia is that it's a good case in point to show Australians that they should cut their nation's military coalition with the USA. Having the families in your nation be subjected to such a threat is not worth whatever you may have gained by deciding to put your nation in alignment with the American effort to test their weapons of destruction on cities around the world, without any repercussions from their voting population.
HappY New Year everyone!
It's been awhile. So anyway, I now realize thanks to psam that I have had it backwards all along. The reason why there are terrorist is because nations like the US and Australia, Canada and Briton not to mention many other nations all have militaries. Now if all these countries were to get rid of their military then there would be no terrorists. Why have we not clued in to this earlier. military = terrorists. Does that mean that terrorist are trying to protect us from our military. Wow!
Bench
LOL Bench. I needed that. Good 1
Welcome Back!!!!!
I suppose today no one is 'safe' It really doesn't seem to matter where one lives, those who seek the attention are going to get it. But with that in mind I can't help but wonder if with the countries that seem to have hid under the radar for so long, if there are people there who are angered by that. In this I mean that some people have such a strong love and compassion for their country and thinking it to be all that (really all countries are similar, all people are similar we know what we have been taught we know what we know, and we fail to see just how limited it actually is and how our exclusion is more of a hinderance than a help) anyway back to where I was going with this. I look at this and wonder if certain people could be jealous of how other areas of the world are always in the news, can't help but wonder if that jealousy and that desire to be in the public eye could cause someone or a group of people to do something to try and 'prove' that their country is also 'worthy' of more.
Is that making any sense?
Sorry Targo.
Didn't make sense to me.
BUT. I liked your picture.
No one else seems priveleged enough to have one. Are you special?
Aaah,,, I know. You ARE special.
But somewhere it just doesn't make any sense.
WHY??????/
Why should it make sense?
If any of it made sense, someone would probably lose their job.
MAYBE if I read the words backwards there might be a hidden meaning there.
"?sense making any that Is
