As I sit, I sip my coffee, quietly Kashmir oozes from the speakers and I relax. We are getting more rain. Last night, on my run around the darkened track, sheet lightning silently put on her show. It was while sleep was invading, advancing slowly, the patter on the roof began and it was comforting. They say that by July we will not be able to shower but that will be the least of my worries as I think about those farmers I know who are losing their crop, with their hope. Here is a link for Canberra's weather. Canberra Airport is closest to my place.
I read today, about the Leader in Nigeria, who wants to challenge the laws of the country which forbid him to seek a third term in office. He is being opposed by his former friend and political ally, and has had a hex administered against him. Imagine that in normal first world politics. Imagine Kevin Rudd, our opposition Leader putting a hex on John Howard.
It seems to me as though Afrika is one of the last places on Earth who is nearing the time in which it will seize a predominant role in this world or be taken advantage of by selfish nations. Afrika, seems to me, as a beautiful but young woman, a lovely but poor girl who is teetering on the brink of womanhood and being seduced by her suitors. In Egypt, and South Africa we can see strong and established nations, while Zimbabwe, Sierra Leone, Darfur, are being raped by evil people. We see unparalleled beauty in its forests and stretching sunset's while child soldiers are learning more effective ways to kill without wasting bullets. It is such an enigma. A place of hope and a place of hate. I will have to construct a list detailing the dictators and leaders and we can judge to see whether there will be hope or if decay is just inevitable. I hope for hope.
Well my song is finished, and my coffee is nearly gone. With some luck, you will read while cradling your drink while supping on these pitiful lines of prose.....

Yes I too read this as I sip on my morning coffee. The house surprisingly quiet this Tuesday morning. It was a long weekend and Matt is enjoying his space to just play and be by himself. He has taken a liking to his sisters barbies, he informs me that it's b/c they are girls and he does like girls.
How does this tie into the BS that I just read, well we are discussing Afrika after all, referring it to a girl, a young lady... I watch Matt play and have to wonder if by playing with dolls and girls and barbies, if it will make him more sensitive, if it will help him to understand women, and possibly the world. I mean with a reference like that of Afrika to a a young woman I have to wonder how that relates to our world ;)
I just clicked on the link on your website that put me to www.worldvision.ca where I can spend 35 dollars a month to sponsor a child somewhere else in the world. I want to find someone who's already done this and ask them what it's like. I think it's an expense I can afford at this stage of my life, but so many questions pop up, starting with how do I find the child who most needs my help? There were 1414 children's pictures to scroll through and each one had a little synopsis of their day to day life and the country they live in. Now what?
Wow....and I thought we were talking about voodoo, witch craft and occult etc.
My grandson playing with Barbies?????hhhmmm not sure how I feel about that. Being the Barbies don't speak I don't think it will help him to understand women better and I hope it doesn't make him too sensitive. LOL
As for sponsoring a child, I wonder how much of that $35.00 actually goes to the child. Maybe $.50 and that will by lots over there. I think it is a big money making gimmick.
It is too bad you can't find your own family and send them the money. From what I understand a whole village could live off 35 a month.
av
psam it is a scam. b careful with that,, at least that is my opinion
some guy
well no I don't think Matt will be too sensitive.... he likes barbies the way that men like to look at barbies *wink*
I was just projecting afterall.
Glad you had some rain over there, and glad you are drinking coffee and not that Coke Zero stuff.
“I can smell it in the air” was your last blog - - actually after reading it I have misquoted it. It is “ I can feel it in the air”. Now that you have some rain it might put off the advance from Category four to Category Five where you have to forgo the morning shower.
Can you imagine a “CATEGORY FIVE” situation in Oz? Just imagine a whole nation of people who are walking around that have not showered for a couple of days, or a couple of weeks, or a couple of months. Puts real meaning into the words “I CAN SMELL IT IN THE AIR”
Imagine the bureaucrats policing the morning shower activities. Imagine the police hauling people to jail in their showering attire. Imagine sitting there amongst the stealers, bullies, murderers etc,. and admitting to them that you were caught showering when there was a category 5 in place.
Well, I shouldn’t really make light of the situation, since we are situated right in the middle of a flood zone and the Fraser River will do what it wants to do. Maybe we can advertise to vacation in Vancouver where the showers are open all the time.
As for the water problem in Oz are there any second hand jet engines around in the junk yard you could buy? My advice is to get one and hook it up to about a half of mile of pipe buried in the ground a couple of feet. You might be surprised how much water comes out of the air when you do it.
Nice picture of Canberra.
I will cast my vote for CHANKSLEE as the “Best-on-line-BS”
Well this is a little off topic, but I just had a conversation with our friend chankslee in another forum and I think he'll be writing about it in his next blog entry. I thought I'd give everybody the heads up. The question you will be asked is this:
If your country decides to implement draft legislation, taking away your children's freedom to decide whether or not they want to arm themselves and fight against "bad guys" and probably end up getting killed themselves, would you fight against your nation to protect your children?
