Paulo and the seal

I found it interesting to see Sir Paul McCartney, and wife Heather in the news the other day, campaigning against the seal hunt. (left) Do you not find it terrible, these people, bashing baby seals on the head and killing them? I mean what a terrible thing to do to a poor defenceless animal. They are pretty cute little things too, aren't they. I came across a Labradorian in my travels one year, and he had some pretty strong views on the hunt also. He personally witnessed the aftermath of more than a few seals, oh and I would guess there were babies too, die from starvation. ( What the heck is a labradorian? Someone living in Labrador, which is beside the Labrador sea, and Newfoundland. map link below ) http://www.canadiangeographic.ca/mapping/worldofmaps/images/map-canada.gif Sir Paul, went on to compare the hunt to the slave trade in saying it is a barbaric practice and continues without justification. Proponents of the seal hunt rebutted with a question as to why the McCartneys were not garnering photo opportunities with beef, chickens or lambs. One would guess that a photo op, with a chicken wouldn't be too great. I disagree. Chickens are wonderful creatures. Do you believe in the seal hunt? Should mankind disturb the course of nature? For those of you who answer no, I ask you if you believe in a person's right to die a dignified death? Does an animal have a right to die before they starve? And lastly, for the simple minded, like me I ask that if the seal is going to die anyways, shouldn't someone make some money out of it? It has been suggested by the Premier of Newfoundland that there are those who depend on the seal hunt in order to help put food on the table to feed their families. Which of course was countered with the suggestion that the government buy out the seal hunters as a way of stopping the hunt. I ask, Sir Paul if he would be willing to help out finacially? Government hand outs? There are enough of those. I go back to the words from this Labradorian. He simply stated that anyone who disagrees with the humane culling of these overpopulated seals, should be the one who has to listen to their suffering as they slowly starve. What do you say?

I leave with you a work by Goya and ask if you know the name of the painting?
Next up will be questions(maybe) about David Emerson... who?

Your website is truly excellent. Now let me just respond to your articles about seals and burquas in one fell swoop.
It is pointless to let the evils of the world bring you down. By letting a horrible thing ruin your spirit, you are making it twice as horrible. Then you go out into the world with your shoulders slumped and your head down. If the only thing you can do about it is express your opinion, then do that and then forget it so it doesn't hurt you.
Cultures treat some people with favour and others with disdain. They are not easily changed. They do the same to animals. To judge a culture for poor treatment is to make them your enemies and then they will never listen to your opinion. Then they think you believe them to be evil, which they of course do not think of themselves. To open their eyes by saying "this is unnecessary harm to other creatures" is to give them something to think about that is not invasive on their opinion of themselves. That is the only thing you can do short of putting the oppressive ruling class of an entire culture in jail to protect the ones that they are hurting, which ends up hurting the ones you are trying to protect anyways, because they then feel isolated from something that was very important in their lives, EVEN when it was hurting them.
Thank you. This opportunity to speak was very much appreciated.

Seals they may look cute but they grow to big a very large blubbery sea cow. Do 2 wrongs make a right?
maybe not but they might make a better. The fish are gone! The fish will never come back as long as the seal is waiting. Man screws up and kills too many whales oops guess what now there are too many seals. But they are soooo cute though! How could any one kill such helpless animal that makes for such a good photo op.

Man should leave it alone and let Nature take care of its self.
