Spelling at about 15-2-go
Talk about getting a life. I believe I have to get one too. Now check this one out. A man in Mudjimba, on the beautiful Sunshine Coast is a millionaire. No not in dollars. This fella, typed up to one million on an old pile of junk ribbon type writer. I can't even spell type writer anymore. ( can you help.. is it one word or two) So for example here we go. One. two. three. Four. Five. Six. and on and on until Nine hundred ninetynine million, nine hundred ninety nine thousand, nine hundred whatever... wow. It took him 16 years. The gentleman's name is Les Stewart. Ya gotta recognize commintment. So there it is. http://www.recordholders.org/en/records/typing.html
Our Prime Minister, John Howard, is meeting in Canada today. He just met with Dubya, and they reaffirmed their relationship, planting some trees together, and smiling a lot. Listen to the new today, and see what happens with Harper and Howard. They are supposed to talk about the energy plan you guys have that is more moderate than the Kyoto accord. We here in Aus have not signed the Kyoto deal. The logic is that without the US on the deal it will not really work. The second one is, and I agree with Kleiny in AB about this too, is that emerging countries do not have to worry about pollution and neither does China. If the Chinese don't belong, the most populous country in the world why should anyone else. Does that make sense? Am I stirring the pot? Psam... bite. ( A hello to my great friend Lindley. Thanx for the comment! Great to hear your voice...kind of)
Hugo Chavez. Is he a hero or a rogue, or both? It seems that he is becoming quite popular. His anti Bush or American stance is one that many of the developing countries admire and respect. Or do they? He has great reseves of oil that he will not sell to what he calls the Imperialist enemy. He has dared America to invade, and exclaims that if they do, "a 100 year war will be unleashed in South America." Pretty strong rhetoric. We will have to do some exploring soon.
Have fun.... play safe... be good. Santa is watching too.
Chanks.

Hugo Chavez sounds like he's no better than Bush, so he shouldn't be pointing his finger. People living in his country would do as well for themselves to relieve him of duty as Americans would for themselves if they relieved Dubya. Both of them should be hired as Conan O'Brien's verbal punching bag and put on his stage for all his shows.
As far as kyoto goes, chankslee, thanks for asking my opinion. What is the world supposed to do right now but be a little sad that the remaining shelf-life of our planet is measured in decades? Who cares which nation's fault it is? What difference does that make?
Let me explain how I see this problem. First off, it is important to recognize that one of the first signs of a good nation is one where the government does not have a lot of power over its citizens. Usually the fact that such a nation has a good infrastructure is a sign that social integrity is maintained by people's individual attitudes towards each other instead of by a government dictating how people are to act. HOWEVER, the problem is that when there is a large scale problem that needs to be solved by having EVERYBODY contribute, such a nation will be slow to react, unless everybody in the nation is intelligent and concerned enough to educate themselves about it and act accordingly, in which case they have tremendous power to do what they all want to.
Canada and Australia are such nations. The governments let the people live without being dictated to very much because the people are responsible enough to handle such a social structure.
If you honestly believe that the world's current rate of resource usage can be sustained for more than 50 years, then don't read on because I believe you're too ignorant to understand simple facts and logic. So here we are on a world that is dying quicker and quicker. What are we going to do about it? Kyoto? Well, it's a start. In nations like ours, it should serve as an example for educated people to learn from instead of a measure for government to enforce. In China? Well, I don't know enough about China's current social situation to really say, but they did enforce a one child policy in China for many years. It seems like a gross neglect of human rights, but on the other hand maybe if they hadn't the nation would have ended up deteriorating to complete chaos. They are a nation that has come smiling out of decades of strife and oppression, and they are just starting to enjoy life as citizens of a nation that for the most part treats them adequately. Perhaps there's a way for them to develop a widespread social conscience without having to throw them back into feeling like their government is keeping them in jail even when they're running free.
That guy that is a millionaire.
I wonder if he worked for the auto insurance industry in Australia?
Case in point: I went to ICBC to get a "boat trailer" licence today. The ethnic person "serving" me had me look at log trailers, hot dog stand trailers, car dolly trailers, travel trailers everything BUT a simple boat trailer. He asks me "does it look like this". I replied,"It is a BOAT TRAILER, not one of those. Isn't there a boat trailer on the list of 100 trailers. NOPE, can't be done. Well, forget it, I said, I will go somewhere else. He probably has the same mentality of that millionaire.
On our dying planet. Whose fault is it? People point the finger in every kind of direction. I think it is just a natural thing that is out of our control. IF IT IS PROVEN THAT THE AUTO IS AT FAULT, then why not take China's example and limit every family to two cars?
Probably too late for that anyway. I say; Enjoy life while we have it. You gotta love it, otherwise you'll go crazy.
actually make that:
two boats and one car.....
NOPE make it two cars and one boat
...NOPE make it one car and one boat
...NOPE make it No boats, one car, and one trailer......
YIKES I think I have lost it.
Sorry,
Dadost says some guy is a millionaire. Oh the typing guy. He isn't a money millionaire though, it was a play on words, because he typed to a million. I read that Dick Cheney (US vice prez) is worth nearly 100 million. Wow. Bush is only worth a paltry 7mil.
So Psam, is the 1 child policy good then? Do you agree? Were Stalin's 5 year plans good? They, economically helped the country... but the people suffered.
Pros and cons, rights and wrongs, goods and bygones, shorts and longs, who the darnit knows?
Dadost had the greatest piece of advice I've ever heard. Just enjoy your life while you got it. Just carry your stupid boat to the water, who needs a stupid trailer?
Every decision that gets made some people suffer and some people benefit. People in Iraq? I'm sure some of the innocent people have been blown up by American bombs. I'm also sure some people would have lived in tyrrany forever if the Americans hadn't come in. Who knows?
And our dying planet? Well, you've gotta live both sides of the story. Do what you can to be a part of the crowd of people in the world that are trying to fix it, but don't make your life miserable in the process. If the human race dies, hopefully we'll die trying to save ourselves instead of fighting and blaming and hating.
Reading each other's insights should make us feel good, or else we're not writing the right things down. You certainly made me feel good. Now excuse me, I've got some bridge to play.
Money, money, money!
It's all about money. You think the world revovles around the sun, nope it revovles around money. Money gets us into trouble but it can get us out of trouble too. We are seeing it already. A shortage in oil the price goes up. THe price gets to a certain point and people start thinking about alternatives. They already exist but they aren't quite economical.
Solar energy, Hydrogen energy, it's out there, and being improved upon. when we get desparate enough that's all we will use. There are still a massive amounts of oil left so the technoligy has lots time. Like dadost says enjoy life!
sorry about the spelling mistakes
where's targo when you need her?
;)
