I am off for the weekend, so this piddly excuse will have to do ya....not that it matters what is written you guys will write whatever you want in the comment page. Do NOT mention our horse. Do not. I am NOT playing the opposite. Do not not. And don't mention the cave... the cave (newbies last comment) is taboo. Right. We have to break all taboos. I don't even know what I am taking about now either.

So, Zarqawi bit the bullet. One of the most high profile members which is one of the biggest antagonists in the eyes of America and Britain and the Iraqi people. I didn't know it before but he isn't Iraqi, he is a Jordanian. For me anyways, that takes away any sympathy I may have had for him. Instead of a man, troubled by a foreign power within his city, and fighting back it makes him instead a bitter man who has an axe to grind against the US and who is willing to sacrifice innocents to achieve his goals. Notice also that his "safehouse" was not in Bagdhad where all the attacks seemed to be. He instead, lived just out of the capital, close enough so he could co ordinate yet another suicide attack in crowded markets full of everyday people, but far enough to be out of the line of fire. Despite his taunting videos in which he tried to display he is a noble leader, annointed by the larger than life, Osama bin Laden, in death he is, just another casualty. Furthermore he was allegedly betrayed by one of his own. Of course the 20 million dollar plus reward is quite the motivating factor. Details now, are still sketchy but one thing is true. He has passed through this life living by the sword..... I don't know if I would agree with any leader who praises the fact that he is dead. This may galvanize border line sympathizers to passionately take up where he has left off.... not that this will not happen anyways. I guess what I am trying to say is that when video clips were shown of normal Middle Eastern people cheering as the World Trade towers collapsed I was sickened. I wouldn't want at this time to show the same courtesy.

The World Cup of soccer is upon us. Germany has already started off with a victory. Wayne Rooney of England looks set to return. Ronaldo, of Brasil is being criticized for being overweight. Italy's wonder boy will not be playing. France has had a major injury blow and is apparently devastated. Japan is poised like never before to slash far into the tournament, starting within 48 hours against the ready Australia.

Hope your weekend has turned out as good as mine has so far...

I am sorry to have missed reading the last entries including the jousting between psam and bench and especially the entry by deb. I would have commented on the untitled entry, one of the few, on their thoughts. Targo, I think you are a bit hard on deb.
One. Psam I detect a bit of frustration and some anger. Bench at first I think you were stirring a bit because I too would like to hear the view put forth by our beloved Puh-sam on intervention, which he keeps skirting. We asked him about darfur, and now have asked him on timor. He just doesn't answer. I think though, you are now serious, and I can see an excellent debate in which we on all view points can benefit. I think though, that in the long run you will see we really do have the same views but slightly different outlooks. Deb. I think, and to the rest of you I hope you can acknowlege you have made one of the best comments on this blog. I like the line about focusing on things in history that are not war related. Now there are waaaaay better things to focus on, but this is a start, and yes you can laugh at me, but there are not too many places on this planet where nation upon nation will concentrate on the World Cup. If you were one person who had nothing in common with one from a distant far country and needed to start conversation I would reckon you would both have a view on soccer. Among leaders, I think, this would and could be a common starting point to a conversation.... if you are following me. I also strongly agree with deb on her views of desensitised children. Sorry but I think she has a valid point.
all for now
i feel a bit disjointed... and... pizza is here... gotta go.. also have a very slow dial up connection this weekend.... bringing back memories of the first 4 months in which i published everything via dial up... tooook a looong time. In other words gotta cup this short.
Cya PIZZA awaits!

Alright Chanks you're right I was a bit harsh.....but I still firmly believe that our children are a product of us, not of the government, and I strongly believe it is up to us to mold and shape them into the individuals we want them to be.

I personally have to believe that if my children are not behaving in a way that I want them to then I have no one to blame but myself....

A good few months ago I looked around my house and it was a mess, the kids were being loud and wild and not listening, and really when it boiled down to it my comment to Paul was "we have no one to blame but ourselves" yes it was harsh but the truth usually does sting, that is how we change and build character and integrity.

so yes I am sorry I was harsh, but for me I need that, I need to be reminded that I make my child sensitive and compassionate, I hold the key to growing up an individual who has a empathy and who isn't shaped by what the government allows us to know.

Right on Targo!
Chankslee can go stuff it!
Chankslee life dream has been to sit in a room with all his friends and stir the pot then step back and watch it cook. Bench vs Psam, Targo vs Deb I can hear the sick little snicker of glee. heh heh heee. Then He turns on us telling us we are being too harsh. The day our veiw points all align will be a sad day in chanksville.
I propose a boycot of this lousy blog. At least for 12 hours. Okay, maybe 6 hrs. Alright alright at least 2 hours. He would notice that right?

My dad used to yell at me and my brother so much that my friends were scared to come over to my house. He was trying to control his kids: make them not say bad words, make them clean their rooms, make them do their piano practice, make them conscious to never get dirt on their clothes when they were playing, etc. When your parents yell at you all the time, you just plain old lose your will to live, and that's no exaggeration.
Meantime at school, I was learning that the Earth is not going to last very much longer. I was learning that World War One was broadcast by the leaders on both sides as a war of good vs evil, but what the people did not know was that the good side was the citizens and the bad side was the leaders, and the leaders WON, because millions of citizens died, but not very many leaders. I learned that wars in Vietnam and Korea both caused many innocent people to die, and nothing good was achieved by either war.
So with all this pelting me, I was depressed and futile. My point is that I agree with Deb that negative points of view about our planet and our society help destroy the people who are subjected to it. Consequently, when I feel as though I'm having a low day, I do not think about things such as East Timor and Darfur. It would not be doing any good for the suffering of the people there for one person across the world to be depressed about it and less capable of dealing with his day.
When I'm feeling strong and less vulnerable, I think about these things. Hopefully my ideas get incorporated into the conglomerate of perceptions that our society fabricates about it to help find the best solution that can be offered.
Chanks, of COURSE you detect frustration and anger in me when we're talking about Afghanistan, Iraq, East Timor, and Darfur. They are miserable topics. Don't get me wrong, I believe that people who try to put ideas forth are doing some good, but it takes a toll on them at the same time. When it makes them too frustrated or angry, they NEED to take a break from it.
I don't see how you can possibly dispute that there must be a better way to help save the people of East Timor than to send a bunch of armed military into the country. I agree with what you said about Zarqawi chanks. Everybody in the world is a good person to some, and a bad person to others. Celebrating a death is not a shining human quality. You want to know what I think about intervention? Sting wrote a song called "If I Ever Lose My Faith In You" and there's a line in it that goes, "I never saw no military solution that didn't always end up as something worse".
And finally, soccer. Thanks chanks. Hope your pizza was satisfying. What am I SAYING!?! Pizza is ALWAYS satisfying! But anyways, go Germany go! I was just looking at the FIFA website and found these spectacular pictures:
http://fifaworldcup.yahoo.com/06/en/w/photozone.html
I love watching soccer players offer a prayer up to heaven when they score. The look on their face always manages to have humility and pride all at the same time. Pride in themselves, humility in their desire not to feel greater than the others, pride in whatever great forces have helped make this moment for them, humility in their belief that those great forces have previously given this moment to someone else, and will again, but today it's theirs to enjoy and be thankful for. You sure the heck never see baseball players doing that. Now baseball is a ridiculous sport. I admit, it's fun to crack a bat and watch the ball go flying, but watching guys stand around out in the field doing nothing for twenty minutes while all the action takes place over some stupid little,... ah what the heck, it's not worth it. Sorry baseball fans, but you really have made a bad choice.
Go Germany go!!!

BENCH!!

DON'T make fun of my friend chankslee! I realize that he's an idiot, using everybody else's opinions as a way of amassing glory for his own personal feeling of superiority, but that doesn't mean you can talk about such abusive practices as boycotts.
I realize that chankslee is trying to focus on soccer as a glorious sport and a way to bring world leaders together when in fact it's taking away people's abilities all over the world to focus on the problems facing the people around them and come up with a concerted way to help them. How many men are there in the world that tell their kids to be quiet so they can hear the game? But you know, chanks is such a great guy that we can forgive him for that, and neither you nor I in our lower levels of intelligence can quite understand that.
chanks' pot stirring is a good way of making sure his friends all think of him as their best friend instead of becoming too good friends with each other. And he's good at it! If any of us were as good at it as he is, we'd do exactly the same thing! I applaud him for it. Whereas YOU bench, YOU seem to think you can come on here, talk trashy about him, threaten a (heavy gasp) BOYCOTT, and then just leave it at that! For SHAME bench. SHAME on you. I hope we can all join in on not talking to bench anymore until he grows up and learns some respect!
Cordially

I'm confused. It seems to me that when someone is trying to plan a terrorist attack in Canada our law enforcers (for lack of a better word) come to the rescue. I say Iraq needs to come up with people that can assure their safety. Makes sense to me. Maybe I shouldn't put my name on this one.

Zarqawi is gone Hooray!

Now the US can go get Osama.

WHY!

Well they started it. They got exactly what they delivered.

As to WHY! and that is the question, the answer is already being answered. Women, mere things that they are, are now being treated like humans in Afganastan another Hooray! The bondage of a Taliban rule is being broken and people are getting a taste of FREEDOM, another Hooray!

HIP HIP Hooray!

I am not rejoicing because of WAR but I am rejoicing because some BAD BAD people are being cleaned up. The cost is great but the result is wonderful. Just look at what we enjoy today.

As for sport the only sport worth mentioning is the SPORT of KINGS... That would be Horse Racing,,, but CHANKS has requested that no horses be mentioned.

Forget baseball, boring.
Hockey, STUPID
Soccer, Worse than tennis
Cricket - Why not a fashion show instead.

NOPE Horse racing is the ticket.

and the horse to bet on is

OFF the Wall

... kind of like Chanks - he says he is off this weekend..... and last weekend,,,,,, and the weekend before that,,,,,,
